On 22 May 2025, DSO4DT, European project funded by the European Commission and run by DSO Entity published its first deliverable, the “Report on Initial Outreach to Digital Twin Activities“, marking a key milestone in its mission to empower DSOs within Europe’s evolving digital twin landscape.
As Europe’s energy transition accelerates, DSO4DT ensures that DSOs are involved as central players in the development and eventual uptake of digital twins. Through a structured approach combining stakeholder mapping, targeted outreach, and collaboration, the project successfully engaged with over 20 digital twin initiatives, organizations, and experts across Europe.
How did we conduct our outreach?:
- Targeted Stakeholder Engagement: DSO4DT mapped the European digital twin landscape and initiated over 20 bilateral exchanges with key players, from flagship Horizon Europe projects like TwinEU, to standardisation experts, institutional bodies, and associations including BRIDGE, ETIP SNET, and T&D Europe.
- Clustered Outreach Approach: Stakeholders were grouped into five clusters (EU projects, institutional bodies, associations, standardisation experts, and the Joint Task Force with ENTSO-E) to ensure strategic and efficient engagement.
- Successful Community Building: The highly attended introductory webinar “Horizon Europe DSO4DT: Boosting DSOs and Digital Twin Activities Kick-Off” showcased the project’s objectives and fostered strong initial collaboration across research, innovation, policy, and industry sectors.
- Continued Collaboration: DSO4DT will expand its outreach throughout the duration of its activities and ensure that all size DSOs benefit from Digital Twin developments.
This early groundwork ensures that the needs of DSOs are embedded into future Digital Twin developments. The insights gathered will directly feed into DSO4DT’s upcoming Needs Assessment deliverable, shaping best practices, knowledge sharing, and coordination activities.
