ebIX documents moved to DSO Entity’s website

What is ebIX?

ebIX® was founded in 2002 with the task to standardise electronic information exchange in the European downstream energy market. ebIX® deliverables are widely used in multiple countries but it never become a formally EU-acknowledged body. Once DSO Entity received a formal EU mandate on this area, ebIX offered the possibility to transfer its activities. The absorption of this knowledge base was agreed by the Board of Director on 16 November 2023.

To ensure that this information remains available, the tables below selected documents, including BRS and ebIX Information models, are being made public in this website.

What are Business Requirement Specifications  (BRSs)?

Business Requirement Specifications describes business processes between organisations in the energy market using a framework developed by ebIX®, to help organisations in the energy industry implement effective and standardised data-exchange processes. The framework is designed to improve communication between stakeholders, reduce development time, and minimise errors. As an intended side-effect, this will harmonise the downstream market processes in the EU energy markets. Full description is available at this Link.

What are the Business Information Models (BIMs)?

A Business Information Model (BIM) in the ebIX methodology is the structured information model that defines the information exchanged between parties for specific business processes. The BIM is derived from the Business Requirement Specifications (BRS) and is used to generate implementable formats such as XML schemas. ebIX modelling is based on open international standards and harmonised role models.

You can find the visual structure here of the documents.

All ebIX documents are now available on DSO Entity’s website, and can be accessed here.
