“Local by nature, European by impact”: Vincenzo Ranieri re-elected President of DSO Entity

Mr Vincenzo Ranieri, CEO of E-distribuzione, has been re-elected as President of DSO Entity.

On 30 September, DSO Entity General Assembly unanimously confirmed Mr Vincenzo Ranieri, Chief Executive Officer of E-distribuzione (Italy), as President of the Association. The vote followed his re-election as President of the Board by the new DSO Entity Board a few days earlier. This final step concluded the election process following the integration of gas and hydrogen members into the Association.

Upon his election, Mr Ranieri thanked all the Board members for the trust they placed in him and welcomed the new Board, marking an important moment of continuity and transformation.

Reflecting on the past five years, he noted that, the Board, the General Assembly and the Secretariat have worked to build DSO Entity from its very foundations. What started as a newly established body has become a credible and trusted European organisation.

But above all, it has become a platform for people. A place where different experiences and perspectives can come together and turn diversity into collective progress.

The enlargement to include gas and hydrogen DSOs opens a new chapter, creating opportunities for synergies across energy vectors for the benefit of more than 300 million European customers. The organisation’s regulatory and technical work will evolve accordingly, including through the development of new network codes and greater integration across energy vectors.

Looking ahead, he stressed the importance of fair representation, a shared strategic direction and strong cooperation, while respecting the diversity of the different energy vectors, geographical realities and organisational scales. The shared ambition is an affordable, secure, and sustainable European energy system, built on the necessary investments, flexible and resilient networks, and the integration of renewables and low-carbon gases.

With the strategic direction now clear, the priority is delivery. To achieve this, he called on the Board to work as a united body, engage in constructive exchanges and value its diversity while maintaining the distinct identities represented within the organisation.

“Local by nature and European by impact“: with these words, Vincenzo Ranieri closed his speech, naming the common trait that unites all DSOs in serving customers as the guiding principle of his presidency.
